A Day to Remember: The 2025 Butterfly Walk for Lupus & Fibro

August 2, 2025, was truly a day to remember as the Social Butterflies Foundation hosted its annual Butterfly Walk for Lupus & Fibro — affectionately known as our family reunion. 💜

Held at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, Virginia, the event brought together thrivers, families, supporters, sponsors, and community leaders for an unforgettable day of unity, inspiration, and purpose. The energy was electric, the smiles were contagious, and the spirit of togetherness filled the air as we walked to raise awareness for lupus and fibromyalgia.

We were thrilled to have Comedian Quincy Carr and Shanda “Dizzy the Host” keep the crowd engaged and entertained throughout the afternoon. The celebration kicked off with an energizing dance fitness warm-up led by the amazing Alicia Jacock, followed by a heartfelt opening devotion from Serena Mann that reminded us all why we walk.

The crowd was on their feet as Hip Hop Artist Savon Corbett (Vendetta Ru), joined by Kandid Jonez, delivered an incredible performance that set the tone for the day — and DJ Rick Geez kept the momentum going with music that had everyone moving! 🎶

We were deeply honored to have Award-Winning Actress Tina Lifford, best known as Aunt Vi from Queen Sugar, serve as our Celebrity Grand Marshal — inspiring all with her grace and powerful message of resilience.

The Butterfly Walk featured a vibrant mix of community resources, wellness vendors, children’s entertainment, and countless moments of connection. Distinguished guests — including Newport News Mayor Phillip Jones, Vice Mayor Curtis Bethany III, Hampton City Councilwoman Hope Harper, and the Police Chiefs of Newport News and Hampton — joined us in support of our mission.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our participants and donors, we raised $14,175 toward our $20,000 goal! Every dollar helps a thriver receive the assistance, encouragement, and hope they need.

We are filled with gratitude for everyone who walked, donated, volunteered, and cheered us on. Together, we are raising awareness, changing lives, and proving that Butterflies don’t let each other fly alone. 💜🦋
