2024 Butterfly Walk for Lupus & Fibro Recap
August 3, 2024 was a day to remember as the Social Butterflies Foundation created history by hosting the first-ever indoor walk for lupus and fibromyalgia. The Butterfly Walk for Lupus & Fibro brought together thrivers, families, supporters, sponsors, and dignitaries at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, Virginia. The atmosphere was filled with positivity and unity as we raised awareness for these important causes.
We were honored to have celebrity guest hosts like Amber Payton (Ambie Renee) from IHeartRadio, Oshea Russell (Tommy on All the Queen’s Men), and Michael Bolwaire (also known as Bolo or Doc on All the Queen’s Men). The event started on a high note with a dance fitness warm-up led by the talented mother and daughter duo Marquita and Jordyn Ardrey. Minister Kim Johnson delivered a heartfelt and motivational opening devotion, while gospel recording artist Vanessa Daniels lifted our spirits with her beautiful song. DJ Tracey V kept the energy high with amazing music throughout the event.
We were thrilled to award a $2,000 college scholarship to Brianna Ramos and honor Dr. Elizabeth Clayton as our 2024 Medical Honoree for her dedication to helping lupus and fibromyalgia thrivers. The Grand Marshal for this year was the Honorable Delegate Jackie Glass, a fibromyalgia thriver serving the 89th District in Norfolk, Virginia.
The event was a huge success with informative resources, vendors, children’s entertainment, and a sense of unity among everyone present. Special guests, including Congressman Robert “Bobby” Scott, Hampton Mayor Donnie Tuck, and various city council members and chiefs of police and fire department, showed their support for our cause.
We are incredibly close to reaching our fundraising goal of $25,000, with just $2,177 left to go. Your support can make a difference! Visit www.butterflywalkforlupusandfibro.org to donate and encourage your loved ones to join us in this important mission. Together, we thrive!
