Felicia Tolliver Valentine (aka Renee) comes from a family of educators and leaders, with English as their area of expertise.   All her family members have majored in or taught English at some point in their careers.  This immersion in English has helped her develop an excellent communication skillset, the ability to problem solve, and think critically.  Having these skills has afforded her many leadership opportunities professionally and socially.  Her affiliation with the Social Butterflies Foundation has been a very important part of her, as she was diagnosed with Lupus in 2015.  This affiliation helped her to overcome the challenges of the disease and afforded her the opportunity to help others. Furthermore, as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., she has aligned herself with many women of distinction, who have mentored and advised her as she fulfills her God-given purpose of service to all mankind.
