Too many Virginians living with lupus and fibromyalgia are suffering in silence. We are closer than ever to making the Virginia DMV Lupus Awareness License Plate a reality—and you can help at no cost to you!
Why This Matters
The lupus awareness plate is more than just a license plate—it’s a symbol of hope, resilience, and solidarity for those living with lupus. Once approved, the Virginia DMV will donate $15 from every plate sold to provide direct assistance to lupus survivors and their families.
This is a monumental step toward raising awareness and making invisible illnesses visible. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has pre-ordered, donated, and helped spread the word.
Lupus & Fibromyalgia Awareness Plates
Social Butterflies Foundation launched the DMV License Plate Initiative because Virginia currently has no specialty plates for lupus or fibromyalgia. These plates will:
- Bring lupus and fibromyalgia into the public eye
- Show survivors they are not alone in their fight
- Provide critical funding to help those in need
We need 450 pre-purchased plates for each design before the DMV will issue them. We are encouraging fibromyalgia thrivers to pre-order the lupus awareness plate because the funds will also help the fibromyalgia community.
